Google Analytics Tracking

Track the conversion rate of guests clicking on your online booking widget and making bookings.

In order to set this up you will need some basic experience with Google Analytics and have access to all restaurant accounts that you want to track.

Below is a link on how to set up your Google Analytics tracking.

Based on the above you will need to create a new property on Google Analytics for the restaurant account that you want to track and generate a tracking ID for.

Add your unique booking widget URL to the Google Analytics property that you have set up so that Google can track it. Your booking widget URL will look as follows, with your unique 8 digit key at the end (this can be found in booking widget settings):

https://www.dineplan.com/widgetframe/12345678

Once this has been set up Google will create a unique tracking ID, which you need to copy and insert into Dineplan. This is inserted in the Booking Widget Settings section in Dineplan here.

If completed successfully, your events will start pulling through under Behaviour > Events > Top Events:

Please see the below event names that will be tracked:

dpWidgetFrame - this means that guests have clicked on the widget URL but have not gone further in the booking process.
dpWidgetStart - this means that guests have selected a date and are now starting the reservation process.
dpWidgetCompleteNew - if it's completed successfully and it is a new booking
dpWidgetCompleteChange - if it's completed successfully and it is a change to a current booking
dpWidgetDuplicate - if it's unsuccessful because there is a clash of bookings.
